Chlorine leak sends 29 to hospital

A TOXIC cloud of chlorine gas left dozens needing treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

A “high quantity of the gas” left 29 people with breathing difficulties and 200 were evacuated from the Aquatics Centre and a “major incident” was declared.

Ambulance crews checked a further 48 at the scene, the majority suffering breathing problems.

Dozens of ambulances and workers rushed to the site in Stratford, east London, with roads cordoned off.
