Anthony Joshua has revealed he has made the shock decision to promote Angel Fernandez to be his head trainer.

The move would bring an end to a 12-year relationship with Rob McCracken which has seen the Watford warrior go from novice to Olympic gold medallist and then world heavyweight champion.

It became clear in recent weeks that Joshua would move away from GB Boxing performance director McCracken (inset) and stop training at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Joshua, 32, went on a tour of the US to find a new coach after he lost the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk in September.

He worked with Canelo Alvarez’s coach Eddy Reynoso, Andre Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter and Mike Tyson’s former cornerman Ronnie Shields, among others.
