Kelly and Cole seal a big 3 points
Hands up if you think Well will be safe

FRASER MACKIE AT FIR PARK

Graham Alexander says the permanent signing of Liam Kelly is a priority after his penalty save all but kept Motherwell in the Premiership.

The on-loan keeper kept out Jamie McGrath’s first-half effort – the first fail from the St Mirren midfielder after eight successes from the spot this season.

Devante Cole then poached a precious three points just after the hour to move Well 11 points clear of Hamilton. They’re nine in front of Kilmarnock in 11th and now have designs on a finish high up the bottom six.

But there’s also work to be done on ensuring the excellent Kelly, with two years left on his QPR contract, is back in the Fir Park fold next season.

Alexander said : “ We’ve spoken to Liam and QPR when he said he would be interested in coming back next year.

“If his future lies out of QPR we’d certainly be interested. He’s done great for us.
