TIM KRUL is set to go to the World Cup after Louis van Gaal revealed he wants him to reprise his role as Holland's penalty shootout ace.

The Norwich keeper, 33, came off the bench at the end of extra time to save two spot-kicks as the Dutch beat Costa Rica to reach the semi-finals in Brazil in 2014.

But his chances of Qatar looked doomed when he was left out of Van Gaal's squad for the latest qualifiers against Montenegro and Norway after the Canaries' poor start to the season.

But the Dutch boss revealed Krul asked to be overlooked and he is planning to take him to the Middle East next year if Holland qualifies.

Van Gaal said: “Tim rung me from England and told me he does not want to make himself available for Holland.
