Jocelyn Gale
Camera: Sony Alpha 37
Location: Cornwall
Photography student Jocelyn has one year left to go on her degree course, and recently completed her second spell of work experience on Digital Camera. So rather than helping us out with photo projects, setting up shoots, researching locations, writing photo tips cards and just generally being super-helpful, we thought she’d like to put her creative chops to the test on a Shootout. Although familiar with using a variety of different cameras on her degree course, Jocelyn kept things nimble by bringing her Sony Alpha 37 and standard lens to Dartmouth. www.instagram.com/joss_photo

James Maloney
Camera: Nikon Z 6
Location: Devon
Our second participant has taken a contemporary path into photography – moving from action cameras straight to a full-frame mirrorless system. James started out taking photos on a GoPro and soon decided to take things further. He bypassed the DSLR stage completely, investing in a Nikon Z 6 and some Nikkor Z-mount lenses. He’s used this setup to build his commercial portfolio and although he can be booked for events and weddings, James’s primary love is landscape photography. With tripod and filters to hand, he was raring to go in Dartmouth. www.jamesmaloneyphotography.com
