Not very long ago, you had still cameras and you had video cameras (also called camcorders). The still camera market was dominated by Canon, Minolta, Nikon and Olympus. The camcorder market was ruled by Sony and Panasonic. Two major changes took place. Number one was the internet and the capability to post video to a worldwide audience. Two was the entry of camcorder manufacturers into still camera production. Sony bought over Minolta and Panasonic introduced the Micro Four Thirds format, particularly suited to video. Soon, all the manufacturers started making ‘hybrid’ cameras which shot both stills and video. Of course, the video capabilities varied considerably. Issues like overheating, cropping of images and continuous auto focus/auto exposure continued to dog manufacturers. In this article, I list my choice of the best video cameras available in the market today.

The Alpha 1 is currently Sony’s flagship and has a mouth watering specification. It is perhaps the most technologically advanced camera for video with 8K capabilities. Let’s look at its awesome features.
