Brit admits it will be ‘nice’ to have a year without the pressure of being world champ.
Lizzie Deignan has said one of her goals for 2017 will be to recapture the rainbow jersey at the Road World Championships in Norway.
Deignan had a successful season in 2016 winning Strade Bianche, Tour of Flanders and the Women’s Tour among others.
“I achieved an incredible run of victories and to top it off with the world team time trial was a fitting end, but it was a difficult year with expectations, I was busy all the time and a year without the [rainbow] jersey will be nice,” Deignan told CW at the Boels-Dolmans team launch in the Netherlands last week.
“Despite saying I’m going to enjoy a year without the rainbow jersey I want it back.”
