Inaugural Women's Tour Of Scotland Route Unveiled

Fears tough race may not attract the peloton’s best, reports Owen Rogers

The Women’s Tour of Scotland presented its three-stage route last week, but doubts remain about the quality of field the race can attract.

All three stages start and finish in major towns or cities in central Scotland, but the final stage finishing in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park is a huge coup for the organisers. That day is unlikely to be a procession, with a short but hilly closing circuit.

Approaching 140km, stage two is the longest, but the inclusion of Cleish Hill just 16km from the finish of the opening day could well cause early splits at the top of the general classification.
