Hayley Simmonds is well placed to add another National Championship to her already glittering palmarès this weekend when she returns to the National 25 with the best form she’s had for three years.
Simmonds last won the 25-mile National Championship in 2018, capping off a four-year run of victories at the competition.
In recent years she has focused more on-road racing with her trade team CAMS-Basso, as well as suffering a few injury setbacks.
But she won the National Circuit Championships earlier this year as part of a time trial campaign that has seen her chalk up five individual victories as well as a Team Time Trial National Championship victory this season.
“I’m probably in the best shape I’ve been in since 2017. I’ve not done loads of 25s, though I did one the other week just to get one in. ”
