OBITUARY Vic Hopkin: 22 July 1933–21 May 2021

Former British Cycling board member Vic Hopkin, who was well known for his work in the run-up to the 2012 Olympics, has died after a short illness.

Hopkin was a member of British Cycling for almost half a century and gave over five decades of service to the sport, from the post-war years and BLRC era through to London 2012 and beyond.

In his youth he raced for Vulcan CRC on the road and track but he later remained involved in racing through his role as a national road commissaire. Over the years, he also trained Islington’s London Youth Games cycling team.
