THE LAST WORD with...

WHEN I left my last job as a Staff Writer at video games outlet PC Gamer two years ago, I left behind what I’d once considered a dream job.

THE LAST WORD with...

I still consider that job to be up there with the best I’ve had, but, having since spent my time writing for Celtic Football Club, I now realise there are levels to the whole ‘dream job’ spectrum.

As a one-time plumber, labourer, barman and mature student, the fact that I get to write for a living today blows my mind, and doing so for the media team of my boyhood heroes is an honour. I was never good enough to make it as a football player, sadly, so, for me, this is the next best thing.

In the last two weeks, two of Celtic’s newest signings – David Turnbull and Shane Duffy – independently described their moves to Paradise as ‘dream moves’. Of course, both players have taken very different paths to arrive in Glasgow’s East End, but, having spoken to both of them for the Celtic View, I know that neither takes their career to date for granted.

Simply by playing football for work, these guys are living the dream. And now, having signed for Celtic – David on a permanent four-year deal, and Shane on a season-long loan from Brighton – they have taken that dream job status to the next level.

As an employee of the club, I’m excited to see them continue to live out their dreams on the pitch, both players having made their debut against Ross County last weekend. As a fan, I hope that both David and Shane lift as many trophies in the coming months as possible in this historic season.
