Grounding Is It The Missing Link?

In 2019 I came across a documentary film about grounding (or earthing), which resonated with me.

I found that research about possible benefits is in its infancy, but the results are promising.

Maybe the reason some patients’ injuries or pain does not improve with therapy is that they have other sources of inflammation.

Maybe we first have to establish what these are, to make it possible to extinguish them.

What is grounding?

Grounding means having bare skin contact on conductive surfaces such as soil, cement, ceramic tiles, bricks, green grass, trees, lakes, rivers, dams, and especially the beach, due to the conductive properties of sand and salt water.

Touted benefits

• Protection from low-frequency EMF (electromagnetic fields) AC voltage home appliances

• An anti-ageing effect as it targets chronic inflammation, considered the biggest threat to quality of life and longevity.

• Improves circulation by thinning the blood in inflammatory diseases that could result in strokes or heart attacks.

• Better quality sleep by targeting the healing, restorative alpha brainwave state during the REM cycle.

• Reduces emotional stress by downregulating the sympathetic (stress fight-and-flight) autonomic nervous system and up-regulating the parasympathetic system.

• Increases energy levels.

• Reduces delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) from hard training.

• Improves recovery from injury and pain by reducing systemic and local inflammation.
