Borthwick hoping to rain on Tykes’ parade
Gary Ballance’s side were skittled for a paltry 50 down in Chelmsford, but bowled out the reigning champions for less than 150 twice to claim a comfortable 91-run victory – their second of the season.
And while the end result had Yorkshire fans jubilant, international stars like Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Cheteshwar Pujara will be looking to bounce back and prove a point at The Oval today.
Surrey are set for the challenge though, according to Borthwick, and will welcome back South African Dean Elgar to boost their own batting line-up.
“It was an unbelievable win for them, to bounce back from 50 all out, it’s a very good effort and they will be buzzing,” said former Durham all-rounder Borthwick.
“It’s a good challenge against Root and Bairstow you need to be on your game and you cannot make many mistakes. But we are in a good place and Dean Elgar will be back.
“In the dressing room he’s full of energy; he’s always joking around and has been fantastic.
