Tennis anyone?

The thought of tennis and Eli Manning just doesn’t feel right, but it’s the new reality for retired Eli Manning, something Manning never saw coming.

“Yeah, if you asked me 20 years ago if I would be hitting tennis balls over a net, I would say, ‘never,’” Manning recently said in an interview. “But I’ve grown to like the sport. I’m pretty good, I can hold my own.”

If anyone thought Manning would pull a Brett Favre and come out of retirement every ten minutes, then you don’t what makes the legend tick.

Manning is enjoying retirement, and while he admits training camp kind of messed with his psyche a bit, he has no regrets about his decision last January.

“I had my run,” Manning said last week in an interview with ESPN. “Had an unbelievable career, whether it be from high school to college football and the NFL. I don’t have any regrets. I got out at the right time. I’m kind of just at peace with it.”

Manning, 39, isn’t kidding. Most athletes who have had the success Manning did, try to convince themselves, their families, the media, just about anyone who will listen, that they’re passed the glory, and have moved on from the sound of a roaring crowd on a Sunday afternoon.

“I’m not going to lie, I think about it,” Manning said. “How can you not? I’ve had football in my blood since I was a little boy.”
