Crashproof fun for everyone
If you are the kind of pilot who can appreciate the saying: “And now for something completely different,” then think you’ll get a kick out of this new drone from Graupner USA. The new Drone ball Sweeper redefines the term “crashproof” with its integrated protective cage. About the size of a basketball, the Sweeper comes with all he major components installed. All you ave to do is assemble and attach the spherical guard, and charge the battery pack. Let’s take a closer look.
HIGHLIGHTS
With its propellers, battery pack, motors, frame, and electronics all securely protected by its rugged and flexible guard, the Sweeper is a great choice for anyone wanting an out-of-the-ordinary drone. Advertised as a quad copter that does not require any prior flying skills, the Sweeper is a great choice for all piloting skill levels. And after putting it through its paces, I am inclined to agree with that statement. The heart of this quad copter is its newly designed S1038 flight controller, which, when combined with its 4-in-1 30A speed control and powerful motors, provides excellent flight performance and stability. The Sweeper can be flown in either mild or wild flight modes, depending on your level of experience. It has a wide flight envelope that will even excite the most seasoned drone pilot.

Windracers Mail Delivery
With its partner Windracers Ltd., Royal Mail has become the first UK parcel carrier to deliver mail to a UK island in a 70-mile, beyond-line-of-sight, autonomous flight to the Scilly Isles. Tasked to better connect the islands’ remote communities, a consortium including Royal Mail, Windracers Ltd., DronePrep, University of Southampton, Excalibur Healthcare Services, and Consortiq Limited is funded by UK Research and Innovation.
Counting Penguins
Counting penguins is harder than it sounds. With freezing rain, snow, and chilling winds that limit the flight windows for the surveys, it takes scientists using three full days to map the location of 300,000 nesting pairs of Adélie penguins on Antarctica’s Cape Crozier.

UAS TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT The Key to the Future of Drones
In 2012, Congress passed the FAA Modernization and Reform Act, which established a deadline for the agency: achieve full integration of drones into the airspace by 2015. As the calendar rolls over into 2021, this begs an obvious question: “Are we there yet?”
