Stay in the city, experience the country

Come On, Irene

Irene is an interesting anomaly in the growing linked megalopolis that Johannesburg, Midrand and Pretoria are becoming. Sitting within the town of Centurion, Irene still retains its intimate village atmosphere, as well as the bucolic beauty that used to be the norm in the area.

The latter is thanks to the presence of a couple of golf courses, the protected land around Doornkloof and Jan Smuts House (now a museum, but for four decades the home of the great statesman and author) and the Irene Dairy Farm, a fifth-generation concern that continues to provide dairy products to the locals while also providing a haven for city dwellers who want an accessible spot to get back in touch with the simpler things in life.
