Designer Mani Jassal Bahia’s mid-pandemic wedding was sentimental and stylish in equal measure

THE LOVE STORY

Childhood sweethearts Mani Jassal Bahia and Harkomal Bahia got married in not one, but two beautiful ceremonies. Although friends since high school, a relationship didn’t blossom until years later. “After graduating from college, we started hanging out more often. One day during a hike, I something felt different. I felt giddy around him and had butterflies in my stomach. And I knewhe felt it too. It wasn’t love at first sight, but love that took its time—a friendship that turned into love.”

PRE WEDDING EVENTS

July 21, 2020 kicked off the mehndi. My sister and I did the décor—we wanted an island patio lounge vibe that was very Instagrammable.” The Canada-based designer made her mehndi lehenga, a design inspired by an outfit her aunt made for Jassal when I was 4-years old. The next day saw the Maiiyan ceremony, where she bore a Benarasi sari.
