Expert advice from the leading health clinic explains exactly how to have a healthy and balanced Ramadan
DIANA BELL-HEATHER
THE SCIENCE OF WELLNESS

As we are a few days into the Holy Month of Ramadan, our bodies are still adjusting to a new routine. To keep you on track, we’ve asked expert Dr. Ziadé, who is based in one of the most celebrated wellness destinations, Clinique La Prairie – the world-renowned medical spa and clinic – on how to maintain a healthy mind, body, and spirit during the month.

Focusing on balanced meals and healthy sleep, Clinique La Prairie is notoriously difficult to get into. You have to be of a certain calibre to enjoy days away from the rest of world and have some of the best doctors attending to your every wellness need. Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, and Pablo Picasso are just some of the prominent clientele who have historically taken advantage of the clinic’s progressive medical expertise, spa therapists, and the exciting collection of traditional and alternative philosophies.

Having been part of La Prairie since 2016, Dr. Ziadé is a certified specialist in rheumatology, physical medicine, and rehabilitation, while also specialising in musculoskeletal medical ultrasound scanning (SGUM) and manual medicine (SAMM).

The Food

The Balance Ideally, your Iftar meals should consist of only one carbohydrate, with protein-rich foods to counteract lean muscle loss. Eating a combination of whole-grain carbohydrates with lean protein for Suhoor will delay hunger pangs and provide longer sustenance.

Your meals should also include vegetables, fruits rich in vitamins (orange/kiwi/ lemon) with carrots (vitamin A) and cereals which are a source of Vitamin B.
