Magic Weavers

Hairstylists are mane magicians who transform (dis)tressed locks into soft, shiny, voluminous versions of their former selves. This transformation requires not just the magical powers of a professional but several magic wands as well. “You haven’t found your touch if you haven’t found the perfect pair of haircutting scissors,” says Almas Kazi, hairstylist, Nzuri by Meryl Joy, Pune. “It took me time to find the perfect pair, which has now become an extension of my personality. After extensive research online, I came across a pair of Toni & Guy scissors that I have been using for years— they just don’t seem to wear out.”

SCISSOR-HANDS

To begin with, you must find the right pair of scissors. It is extremely important for them to sit perfectly on your fingers without feeling uncomfortable or heavy. A pair of thinning scissors is something you cannot skimp on because it is the best tool for clients who have puffy hair. Also, having a perfect set of round brushes for blow-drying enhances the beauty of the haircut, allowing the client to see the fall of the cut. For a flawless hair parting that results in a beautiful, systematic cut or colour, a tail comb is a necessity. A vent brush is something that allows you to give maximum volume to the roots, making the clients hair look full.
