A Tribute To Sfiso Ncwane
IT’S been a year since gospel sensation Sfiso Ncwane passed away. His wife, Ayanda Ncwane (33), shares how she celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary this year and the plans she has for his music that was not released.

THE PLANS THEY HAD

Three months after her husband’s passing, Ayanda showed up at work and told her team that they would be going on with all the music plans they had for the year, even without gospel star Sfiso.

“The team was shocked but I did it because my husband would’ve wanted the same thing. He was one of the hardest working people I have known and it wouldn’t be fair for me to sit in bed mourning and not keep his legacy alive,” she says.

At the time of his death, Sfiso had recorded music that had not been released.

“Every year, we will release a single from Sfiso’s music to keep his music alive,” says Ayanda. The first song was due to be released on 5 December which marks one year since his passing. The song is called Hamba Nami Baba (Go With Me Father).

“If you listen to the lyrics of the song, it is as if Sfiso wrote the song after he passed away,” says Ayanda.

Sfiso was recently honoured with the Song of the Decade award at the Crown Gospel Awards in Durban for his hit single Kulungile Baba. The award was voted for by fans.

RENEWING THEIR VOWS

The Ncwanes would have celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in June this year. The pair had planned to renew their vows in a beautiful venue filled with friends and family. The venue had been paid for and so was Ayanda’s dress.
