After the launch of CarolVordermans new TV segment about romance for theover-50s, Woman asks if it is the best age to get back into the dating game...
Divorce rates among the over-50s have almost doubled in the last decade, meaning more women are becoming part of the ‘silver single’ generation than ever before. And, the good news is, they are loving it. In fact, one in six over-50s are now turning to online dating services. Even celebrities are embracing the dating game. Former Countdown star, Carol Vorderman, 57, has launched her own segment on ITV’s Lorraine – Carol Vorderman: My Single Life.
Carol, who split from on-off lover Graham Duff, who is 14 years her junior, revealed she dates toyboys and has no interest in ‘finding a keeper’. The presenter, who has been married twice before, added that she is actually happy staying single. She said, ‘It’s not about finding someone. We don’t all want that. Some women might want two or three on the go, some might not want anything.’ And Carol isn’t wrong. According to a survey, while many over-50s claim to be dating in order to find love again post-divorce, others admit they are simply looking for no-strings-attached sex.
