It should have been a night jubilation, with flowing fizz and photo ops aplenty after of a prestigious award nomination. But for the stars of Good Morning Britain, the recent BAFTA television awards seemed more of a tense work meeting than a chance to hit the town with colleagues. While stars from rival shows spent the night posing and partying together, GMB hosts Susanna Reid, 51, and Richard Madeley, 66, kept a noticeable distance from one another.
The show had been nominated in the news category for the pair’s must-watch interview with former ISIS member Shamima Begum, but Richard walked the red carpet alone before heading inside the bash. Photos posted to Instagram show that TV darling Susanna was in attendance backstage, but the presenting duo failed to pose for any snaps together.
Susanna and Richard have been working together on GMB since last autumn, with Richard agreeing to take on a regular part-time slot in November, eight months after Susanna’s former co-host, Piers Morgan, sensationally quit.
