Mr Clooney proves he’s still besotted
It’s been shaky ground for George and Amal Clooney in recent months, with their four-year marriage cracking under his inability to keep their private life, well, private. But it looks like their recent attendance at the royal wedding gave their relationship a much needed jolt of new life.
A friend close to the glamorous pair tells Woman’s Day that George, 57, was so overcome while watching Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex get hitched that he popped the question to his surprised wife, hoping it would give them the fresh start they so desire.
“George is a huge romantic and he was so happy at the wedding that he got down on bended knee to ask Amal to marry him again that night,” reports the pal. “It started as a joke, but now they’re going ahead with the plan.”
The heart-throb’s aim was to let Amal know that he is truly and madly in love with her, despite their recent problems. And it worked, with their mate revealing that they will mark their upcoming anniversary in September with a two-day celebration at their Lake Como palazzo.
“They will hold a 30-minute ceremony, but it will be more a celebration of their love,” says the friend. “They each plan to give a speech on how their life has changed since they got married and they will renew their commitment to each other in front of their children.”
