7 Reasons You Might Have Missed Your Period

Missed or late periods can knock the hell out of a woman. She can only feel carefree about her irregular periods when it first begins and when the menopause starts. Though pregnancy is one of the most common reasons for missing your period, it is still not the only one. head on to know the other reasons because of which you might have missed your period.

Stress

Stress is one of the biggest reasons of irregular or late periods. It can cause hypothalamic amenorrhea. The Hypothalamus is a part of the brain that is responsible for the production and regulation of the body's essential hormones. It gets affected by stress and further disables the regulation of your period hormones properly. This can result in completely missed periods. So, If you are feeling stressed over a major heartbreak, an annoying and over demanding boss at the office and a troubled home life, it could be one reason for your late period or missed period.

Weight

Weight is also one of those factors that can prevent your body from having your period on time. If you are too underweight or too overweight, you are likely to deal with irregular or late periods for months. Your weight too can affect your hypothalamus, a gland in your body that is responsible for regulating your hormones. When you are underweight or dealing with a low caloric intake and extreme weight loss in a short period of time, your body doesn't release the estrogen which is needed to build the lining of the uterus.
