REACHING OUT FROM THE HEART

These are the intense summer months of May and June that make the pets in our homes and out in the streets feel stressed due to the heat.

This is specially for the dogs and cats living in the streets, who look for shelter wherever they can find it. Their appetite drops and they become very irritable snapping at those who disturb them too much.

AAP, that is Alliance of Animals and People, (www.allianceofanimalsandpeople. org) during these summer months run community programs in Delhi and Kolkata, trying to reach out to the street pets seen panting and tired trying to find a quiet corner where they can cool off for a while. The community groups always leave a clean bowl of water in areas and in front of the house so that it is a relief for them and they don’t have to loiter around in search of water to drink.

The school programs that are conducted also talk about children being loving and compassionate to understand that just like them, the dogs and cats around us are thirsty during summer and need to drink water. Oftentimes, the children themselves take up the responsibility in their area and keep a clean bowl of drinking water for them.
