Unique Cars|Issue 483
THE EARLIEST of these midengined Ferraris now rate as historic cars and are eligible for serious savings on registration. Not that the prospect of saving a few hundred bucks is going to make much difference to someone about to outlay $200K on two seats and a Prancing Horse.

These models followed on from the evocative 308 and 328GTS, and are yet to match demand for and or the surging prices of earlier cars. Open-top Spider versions would once command more money than their fixed-roof equivalents, but recent surveys show the coupes catching up and sometimes overwhelming convertibles.

Most costly are F355 models which offered a big power gain over the previous 348 series (280kW vs 224kW), with six speeds instead of five and a minimal weight gain.
