TOYOTA SUPRA 1982-2002
Unique Cars|Issue 481
TOYOTA’S SUPRA within the space of a decade managed the transformation from a Celica with comical body embellishments to a fearsome performance car.
TOYOTA SUPRA 1982-2002

Late-1970s Supras weren’t sold in Australia but looked similar to the standard, four-cylinder Celica. During 1981 the shape and concept changed significantly; MA61 versions supplemented their elongated nose and 2.8-litre, six-cylinder engine with flared mudguards covering bigger wheels and spoilers everywhere.

MA61 Supras were raced successfully in Japan and Britain, and fitfully by local Toyota specialist and RaceCam pioneer Peter Williamson who imported a car from Team Toyota UK.
