It doesn't get easier; you get stronger.

We endurance athletes constantly look for ways to improve, get stronger, faster, and endure longer. We train relentlessly to improve. When we look back at our journey as athletes, we have come a long way. With technological advances, we now have smart watches, apps, nutrition, hydration, supplements, coaches, and physios to boost performance.
Similarly, "Rightship" has come a long way since being founded in 2001. Rightship is a pioneer in the dry bulk industry. In the initial years, it was a simple checklist. In February 2023, the RISQ 3.0 was launched, which was comprehensive and much more structured. It included cargo operations for five different types of ships and fuel management to keep in line with the evolution of fuel technology.
The expanded inspection scope covered statutory items and recommended best practices, referencing IMO, ISO, ILO, OCIMF, ICS, P&I Loss Prevention Bulletins, maritime publications, and industry practices.
The maritime industry constantly evolves, to clarify some doubts and requirements. RISQ 3.1 came into effect on 18th September 2024. The RISQ 3.1 includes enhancements in-
• Section 17 Ship to Ship operations: This section contains ten questions.
• Operation and Maintenance Training: New operation and maintenance training course guidelines for hatch covers.
• Welding and Gas Burning Equipment: Aligning safety protocols regarding welding and gas burning equipment with current industry standards.
• Pilot Ladder Safety: Revised guidelines on additional measures for the safe use of pilot ladders.
• For all the changes, refer to Annex A in RISQ 3.1
Indeed, as ship owners, managers, ship manning agents, and seafarers, we constantly strive to be "on the ball" and try our best to ensure compliance in this evolving maritime industry.

DECARBONISATION A COURSE WE CAN NO LONGER IGNORE
Most people on shore do not think twice about how their phones, clothes, or coffee beans travel across oceans. But those of us who have stood watch at 0200 hrs know the truth: ships burn through 300 million tons of fuel every year, coughing out nearly 3 percent of global CO2 emissions.
