New India Assurance Tops Health Insurance Claims Settlement
Public sector giant New India Assurance emerged as the leader in health insurance claims settlement for the year ending March 31, 2023, as per the General Insurance Claim Insights 20232024 report released by the Insurance Brokers Association of India (IBAI). The insurer achieved a claims paid ratio of 95.04% in terms of the number of claims and an impressive 98.74% in terms of the amount settled.
The insurer processed 90.56 lakh health insurance claims during the year, reaffirming its commitment to efficient claims management and policyholder satisfaction. In comparison, Star Health and Allied Insurance, a leading standalone health insurer, reported a claims paid ratio of 75.10% by the number of claims and 54.61% by value, handling 19.55 lakh claims. The stark difference highlights the superior claims settlement performance of New India Assurance, making it a benchmark in the industry. A high claims paid ratio is a critical indicator of an insurer's reliability and efficiency, strengthening trust among policyholders.
