WILLIAM & KATE MARRIAGE CRISIS

PRINCE William’s fairytale marriage to Princess Kate is hanging by a royal thread amid a behind-the-scenes battle over his control-freak ways, sources tell GLOBE.

Despite her smiling public persona, the 42-year-old future queen is so desperately unhappy at how William rules their family with an iron fist she’s threatening divorce, reveals a high-level palace source.

“Kate is at breaking point,” dishes the royal insider. “They’re having terrible rows over almost everything, and their marriage is cracking under the pressure!”

It’s been 12 years since the two walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey, and the once happy marriage is said to have taken a nasty turn since Charles was crowned king, making William, 41, next in line.

“Since William became heir to the throne, his ego’s been in overdrive,” dishes the insider. “It’s his way or the highway, and that’s not sitting well with Kate.

“She admits they have days when ‘we don’t talk to each other,’ and their plans for the future are now in disarray.”

Their simmering problems exploded into war after William coldly vetoed Kate’s desire to send older son Prince George, 10, to a modern school, say sources. William insists George follow royal tradition and, at age 13, attend boarding school at upper-crust Eton, where William and his brother, Prince Harry, were educated.

“Kate is heartbroken,” confides the royal source. “She thinks sending George — a future king — to such a stuffy institution goes against all their efforts to modernize the monarchy.
