Just when we felt like we were fighting a losing battle with our January blues, the new series of Love Island came back with a bang last week and rescued us from our pit of winter despair. Not only did our favourite ITV2 show hit the ground running with a heady concoction of eye candy, flirty banter and, er, a farmer who’s famous on TikTok, but it also came back with a brand new host in the form of Maya Jama, who we’re totally obsessed with already.
Unsurprisingly, we’re not the only ones who have fallen for Maya’s many charms – not to mention her ridiculously hot outfits – and some viewers have actually admitted that the 28-year-old, who has replaced former host Laura Whitmore, is the only reason they’re tuning in. One viewer tweeted, “Watching Love Island for Maya & Maya ONLY,” while another said of Stormzy’s ex, “Might as well just show an hour of Maya every night tbh.”
That said, the contestants have also put the work in when it comes to entertaining viewers and we’re already feeling invested in the relationship between Lana Jenkins and Ron Hall, both 25, after they coupled up on the first day. So much so, in fact, that we had to look away when Tom Clare, 23, chose to snog Lana in front of everyone in a game of dares. Ouch! The footballer then took part in the first three-way kiss of the season with Tanyel Revan, 26, and Anna-May Robey, 20. Let’s hope he’s not peaking too soon!
