As multiple excerpts – damaging, shocking and even cringe-inducing at times – leaked from Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare last week, one thing became crystal clear. Despite his impassioned claim that he wants reconciliation with his brother and father, the harm and hurt this has almost certainly caused his family must have made any hopes of repairing their fractured relationships more distant than ever.
Esteemed royal author Tom Bower told OK! that Harry’s “treacherous” allegations against brother William, the Prince of Wales, mean there can now be “no way back” for the warring siblings.
He adds that William must now speak out in response to the explosive claims in Harry’s book as it is “the only way he can defend himself” and protect the future of the monarchy.
Tom also claims that while the brothers’ father, King Charles, is upset about the memoir he is “very unlikely” to address it because he “hates confrontation”.
The Duke of Sussex’s already fractious relationship with the royal family hit an all-time low last week when leaked extracts made a number of damaging allegations against William – who Harry describes as his “arch-nemesis”.
Astonishingly, they included him accusing his brother of physically attacking him. Recalling the alleged 2019 incident, Harry claimed William arrived at his former home, Nottingham Cottage, “piping hot” and branded his wife, Meghan Markle, “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”.
