Meta Golding 'I LOVE A NEW START'

For Meta Golding, stepping into a role is like learning a new culture, something she was raised doing. As the daughter of international aid workers, she grew up moving around, living in Haiti, the Unites States, India, France and Italy. Not only did that help her to become fluent in several languages – she speaks Italian, French, Creole and English – it enabled her to master the art of reinvention, blending in and embracing the new world around her.

“When I was a child, I was like, ‘I’m going to pick something really solid and stay in one place and be one thing,’ because I’d had to move around so much – but then I ended up recreating the same sort of life,” Golding, 51, tells WHO via Zoom about becoming an actor.

“Now I go on location a lot. I always talk about scripts as a ‘new culture’ – you have to learn this new culture. Subconsciously, I guess I recreated what I’m used to, which is starting over, learning a new culture. I feel so blessed that I got to see so many different ways of life. There’s so many different people and there’s lots of different experiences and one isn’t better than the other – they’re just different. ”
