It Ends With Us? Not any time soon. Blake Lively’s Dec. 20 bombshell legal complaint against costar and director Justin Baldoni—alleging sexual harassment on the set of the hit 2024 movie and a retaliatory smear campaign after she spoke up—was filled with shocking details. But as Baldoni, 40, takes legal action of his own, the saga has turned into a war.
Bryan Freedman—a lawyer for Baldoni and the others named in Lively’s complaint, including his producing partners at Wayfarer Studios and his publicists—announced on Jan. 2 that Baldoni intends to sue Lively “soon.” Two days prior, the same day Lively officially kicked off her court case by filing her complaint in federal court in New York, Freedman, on behalf of Baldoni, filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against The New York Times, which detailed Lively’s complaint in a Dec. 21 article titled “ ‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine.” The article, claimed Freedman, “relied almost entirely on Lively’s unverified and self-serving narrative.” He also said in a separate statement that the paper “cowered to the wants and whims” of Lively, 37, and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, 48.
