It's time to feel more empowered about discussing intimate health

WE NO LONGER LIVE IN AN ERA where we have to whisper the word VAGINA, or where it's taboo speak/talk about the health of our lady parts. As a matter of fact, we should've normalised this topic ages ago! Aurora Marcopoulos, founder of Aurora Wellbeing a newly launched online wellness store that focuses on menstrual cycle care and educating women on all phases of their cycle shares some insight into the world of feminine wellness, why women should be speaking more freely about their menstrual cycle, and all that comes with it.

Glamour: What is feminine health and what are the most common feminine health issues?

Aurora Marcopoulos: Feminine health refers to the overall well-being and care of the female reproductive system. It encompasses various aspects, including menstrual health, sexual health, and overall gynaecological health. Common feminine health issues include menstrual irregularities (more common than you think), menstrual-related illnesses like endometriosis, vaginal infections such as yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis, menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) and urinary tract infections (UTIS). To maintain optimal feminine health, it's important to address these issues promptly and seek medical advice when needed. It is very beneficial to understand the different phases of your cycle - we recommend tracking it on a period tracking app so that you can understand what your body needs at different times of the month. For example, our bodies might need more rest during menstruation, but owing to increased energy levels during the follicular phase, it might be beneficial to engage in more intense physical activities.

G: Why is feminine hygiene so important, and why should we prioritise it?
