ANITA AND YASH DONGRE
Designer Anita Dongre is one of the biggest names in Indian fashion, and her son Yash, who started out as an intern at her brand, now heads business operations at the House of Anita Dongre.
ON COMING TOGETHER ANITA DONGRE: “I had absolutely no idea he wanted to join the business. At every stage, I always told him to choose a career that he wanted, but this just came from him. I love working with Yash because he’s my son and he understands my vision. He understands where I want to take the business and the purpose of the brand. He connects with it so deeply and feels exactly the way I do. So the legacy I’m passing on is in very capable hands.” YASH DONGRE: “I started off as an intern 10 years ago and worked my way up the ranks. I never had any pressure to join the business because both my mum and dad are first generation entrepreneurs. It’s very inspirational because I’ve seen House Of Anita Dongre being built from scratch. The first office I remember was in Khotwadi in Santa Cruz. From mum’s cabin, you could actually see a tabela (buffalo shed) and I don’t know how she used to focus and work over there, but I guess that’s the passion she had.”
