It appears that 2023 is turning out to be the year of major world tours. A-listers Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Blackpink, Elton John and Madonna are all making their way across - the globe to stage mammoth concerts. But music acts aren't the only ones getting in on the action.
Weekend Max Mara is embarking on a world tour of its own for its signature star, the Pasticcino bag, with more than 50 stops in the plans. Each stop will unveil a special edition Pasticcino bag, one that pays homage to the heritage of the country it visits.
Named after the Italian word for "small pastry", the Pasticcino bag is a playful clutch characterised by an oversized pouch and two signature boules forming its distinctive clasp. For the debut of this itinerant project, Weekend Max Mara brought the bag to Venice, Italy last May, where the Pasticcino Bag Modello Venezia was introduced. Crafted with Fortuny fabrics and Murano glass beads, the Pasticcino Bag Modello Venezia is a beautiful ode to the crafts tradition Venice is renowned for.
Now, on the second leg of its world tour, the Pasticcino bag finds its way to France with the new Pasticcino Bag Hommage à la France. A true tribute to the country's centuries-old crafts heritage, this French edition of the Pasticcino bag is fashioned from luxurious Guipure lace produced by Master Dentellier André Laude, a high-end lace specialist with a history that dates back to 1850. The bag's unique clasp is now reimagined in exclusive handmade Faïence ceramic boules courtesy of Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy 1798, a historical earthenware factory recognised by the French government as a Living Heritage Company.
