THE BRAND THAT gave us the trifecta of the Birkin, Kelly and Constance launched its beauty line, Hermès Beautéinspired by its bags and scarves, naturally-in 2020. Starting with Rouge Hermès, a range of lipsticks in saturated pigments Orange Boîte (orange juice), Paprika and Epice (spice) in satin and matte, and Rose Hermès lipsticks in Flamingo, Velours (velvet) and Encens (incense), followed by a seamless string of strategic drops such as Les Mains, Plein Air and next, a focus on the eyes.
As I swiped on a Rose Velours lipstick for my conversation with Gregoris Pyrpylis, the creative director in charge, on the eve of the brand's beauty launch in India, I marvelled at the scent of the stain that continues long after words have left your lips and coffee sips have punctuated conversations-its matte effect a true depiction of a velvet rose petal. From inspirations steeped in silk scarves to longevity ensured via refillable cases and complexion balms for men and women, read on to know more about Hermès Beauté's launch in India.
