ASSEMBLE BLOCKS
Measurements include ¼" seam allowances. Sew with right sides together unless otherwise stated.
Press seams in direction indicated by arrows on diagrams. If no direction is specified, press seam toward darker fabric.
1. Referring to Diagram 1, sew together dark print and light print 1½x12½" strips to make Strip Set A. Cut strip set into eight 1/2"-wide A segments.
2. Referring to Diagram 2, sew together two A segments to make a small Four-Patch unit. The unit should be 2½" square including seam allowances. Repeat to make four small Four-Patch units total.
3. Referring to Diagram 3, sew together two dark print 2½" squares and two small Four-Patch units to make a quarter unit. The unit should be 4½" square including seam allowances. Repeat to make a second quarter unit.
4. Referring to Diagram 4, sew together light print and dark print 2½x10½" strips to make Strip Set B. Cut strip set into four 2½"-wide B segments.
5. Referring to Diagram 5, sew together two B segments to make a large Four-Patch unit. The unit should be 4½" square including seam allowances. Repeat to make a second large Four-Patch unit.
6. Referring to Diagram 6, sew together quarter units and large Four-Patch units in pairs. Join pairs to make a block. The block should be 8½" square including seam allowances.
