Google Pixel Tablet

An interesting reimagining of what Google sees a tablet being. The Google Pixel Tablet doesn't just want to be a tablet, it wants to be your home hub too
Google Pixel Tablet

Is it a tablet? Is it a home hub? The Google Pixel Tablet straddles multiple camps and the inclusion of the dock in the box makes it half home hub, half tablet in effect. But is it something you're in the market for?

There's no predecessor or upgrade here, the Google Pixel tablet is a whole new product, with a whole new name. That being said it is an Android tablet embodying Google's software, so it is like other Android tablets to a certain degree. But this offering implements its own chipsets and at the heart of the Pixel Tablet is the very same Tensor G2 you'll find in a Pixel 7 Pro. So no bad thing.

But what about the design and display? Here you get an 11-inch screen, with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The display is an IPS LCD, so no OLED panel as you'll get in the best flagship phones, with a 1600 x 2560 resolution delivering a 276ppi pixel density. That's not especially high, given the Pixel 7 Pro is 512ppi, but it looks perfectly fine, whilst not being a mind-blowing screen. There is stylus compatibility, but there's not one included.

The Pixel Tablet mounted on its dock gives you the feeling that you want to go all-in with Google Home, Google Assistant, YouTube and the like. We certainly use it very differently to a Google Pixel phone. If you already possess a phone and a Google or Amazon hub then you might find the use-cases for the Pixel Tablet a little limited.

Impressive - as a tablet
