TRUE BLUE

Angus had been on the country road for about an hour when suddenly the vehicle in front of him blew a tyre.

For a moment he feared the driver would lose control as the car fishtailed, but luckily it stopped safely.

Angus geared down then pulled up behind the stricken vehicle.

As he approached, a man with a wide-brimmed hat got out to survey the damage.

A dog jumped out as well, and came running towards Angus with its tail wagging.

'She likes you,' said the man. 'She's good at first impressions, my Suzie. Once she growled at a bloke my granddaughter fancied. Turned out he was a two-timing mongrel. I've always trusted Suzie's instincts.'

'She's great,' Angus said, patting the excited dog. 'Glad neither of you got hurt when that tyre blew. I was a bit worried for a moment.' 'Gave me a bit of a jolt, that's for sure,' the man tapped his chest. 'Heart's racing like I've sprinted around the cow paddock.'

'Need a hand? I don't have to be anywhere in a hurry,' Angus asked.
