And suddenly a sense of urgency has gripped the environment at Tsu kla Khang for the Saga Dawa procession which will be taken out the next day. A set of Monks are busy shifting the holy Buddhist manuscript to the courtyard of the Tsulkakhang as it will need to be carried tomorrow during the procession A good number of devotees thronged the Palace and many will seek blessings from the holy book during the Saga Dawa procession.
While another set of monks and volunteers are busy separating flower petals that will be used for tomorrow's puja. And the head monk is busy instructing the junior monks to make Mandala. The mandala represents an imaginary palace that is contemplated during meditation. Each object in the palace has significance, representing an aspect of wisdom or reminding the meditator of a guiding principle. The mandala's purpose is to help transform ordinary minds into enlightened ones and to assist with healing. Mandala making is an important part of the Saga Dawa festival.
From early morning People started to flock to Tsuk-La-Khang monastery and started to offer their prayers and burned incense and waited for the Saga Dawa procession to seek blessing from the ages-old Pecha (Holy Book).
Saga-Dawa is just not simply a Buddhist festival it is more than any festival, if Ramjan is for Muslims then Saga -Dawa is the holiest month for Buddhists, especially for Sikkim who follow Mahayana Buddhism and it is the Saga –Dawa a triply blessed day.
