City's municipal schools go smart

High-tech classrooms at these schools raise bar for public education; city has 129 of them

Though known more for its private schools with their swanky buildings and high fees, Ahmedabad is seeing a quiet revolution in its municipal schools. With the recent inauguration of 30 new 'smart schools' by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the city now boasts 59 such campuses, catering to 28,832 students. These schools are raising the bar for public education with their impressive technological facilities.

AMC School Board administrator Lagdheer Desai highlighted, "Out of 450 municipal schools, the city currently has 129 smart schools, serving over 70,000 students. With the implementation of NEP 2020, our focus is on skill-based and technology-driven learning. We are also prioritising 'learning without load' by incorporating activity-based learning."
