Israeli Airstrikes Kill Another 37 Refugees

ISRAELI shelling and airstrikes killed at least 37 people most of them refugees sheltering in tents outside the southern Gaza city of Rafah overnight.

As the death toll rose, the Israel Defense Forces were accused of repeatedly bombing a camp for the displaced where strikes triggered a deadly fire on Sunday.

Israeli tanks once again mounted raids across Rafah in defiance of a World Court ruling for a second day yesterday.

Hamas and its allies Islamic Jihad said they had hit back with anti-tank rockets and mortar bombs.

The Israeli military said three soldiers were killed and three badly wounded as it took control of three-quarters of a buffer zone on the outskirts of the city.

National security adviser Tzachi Hanegbi said he expected fighting in Gaza to continue throughout 2024 at least.
