Conor and Danielle Cullen and daughters Chloe, 13, and Molly, 11, fled their Rhodes hotel with just one bag of belongings before enduring a three-hour pitch-black boat journey.
Speaking from their home in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland, yesterday, Conor said: "People were starting to get more panicked about what was happening.
"Where the fire was didn't look as severe as it got later in the night.
"Then you could see it spread right across the horizon, almost like an arc, as if it was coming towards you."
