Baroness Tanni: Rail stations plan will hit disabled people hard

TANNI Grey-Thompson has warned that disabled people are being stripped of their rights to travel, as she joins our fight against rail ticket office closures.

The Paralympics legend, 54, scoffed at claims by train bosses that shutting offices could help disabled passengers.

The industry has drawn up plans to close ticket counters at 974 stations across England.

Baroness Grey-Thompson warned the move will put passengers at risk.

She said: "Selling it as it's going to be amazing for disabled people' is quite disingenuous. Instead of going to the ticket office and saying 'hello', you are going to have to wander around trying to find help points.

"At smaller stations that maybe have three platforms, you don't know where that member of staff is going to be. And they'll be pulled in different directions."
