- Mick joins the royals at banquet
- Monarch moved by mother tribute
THERE was plenty of Satisfaction as rock royalty met real royalty at a state banquet fit for a King.
Sir Mick Jagger and girlfriend Melanie Hamrick were among the 150 guests at a lavish event in honour of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
The evening at the Palace of Versailles' historic Hall of Mirrors was hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and wife Brigitte.
Among the other stars on the guest list were Hugh Grant, French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg and Sex Education's Emma Mackey.
From the world of football, there was former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, midfielder Patrick Vieira and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba. Charles flitted between French and English in his speech which focused on joint endeavours to deliver hope and prosperity for future generations.
He raised a laugh when referring to the Rugby World Cup being played in France by declaring: "May the best team win. And he thanked his hosts for their moving homage to the late Queen after her death." He said: "Mr President, among the many profoundly moving gestures here, the flying of the Union flag at the Elysee was particularly poignant. Your words, at that time, meant a great deal to us."
