DAN EVANS has mocked younger British stars for accepting defeat on clay - and celebrating small successes back home on grass courts.
All six British singles players lost in the first round of the French Open - the same as in 2020.
It is the fourth time there has been not one British singles victory in Paris this century. Slower clay courts, common across Europe, have traditionally been the least successful surface for Brits. Sue Barker was the last Briton to win a French Open singles title in 1976.
British players have won just 12 Tour-level matches out of 40 in the European clay court season.
Evans admitted the French Open had been "a bit of a tough tournament" and cited the future potential of Jack Draper (top circle) to do well on the surface.
