ROY Whiting's stabbing is the latest in a string of attacks on the vile child killer who is despised in prison.
The thug was reportedly knifed repeatedly at the weekend in HMP Wakefield, where he is serving at least 40 years for murdering eight-year-old Sarah Payne in 2000.
Guards are said to have rescued the paedophile, 65, and treated him after the frenzied assault.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A source said: "Whiting is hated in prison. He was stabbed and was covered in blood. They were trying to kill him. Whiting lives with a constant target on his back."
