Mother's joy after Sunak vow to make killers go to sentencing

RISHI Sunak told the mum of Olivia Pratt-Korbel he will finally force criminals like her daughter's killer to face victims' families when they are sentenced.

The PM announced to change the law after months of dithering while offenders continued to refuse to face justice.

Mr Sunak invited Cheryl Korbel to No10 to promise it won't be possible for thugs like Thomas Cashman "to take the coward's way out".

Cashman, 34, shot Olivia, nine, last August in her home in Dovecot, Liverpool.

Cheryl, who received one of the PM's Point of Light awards, said: "I just hope she's proud of what we have done because at the end of the day, it's in her name." Mr Sunak thanked her for campaigning to change the law.
